How do I buy precious metals?
Dear Birch Gold Group,
I am interested in purchasing actual precious metals, not certificates or paper that is backed by precious metals. How can I buy them?
Sincerely,

Hi Dan,
Great question – thank you for emailing. Like you, many investors choose to buy physical precious metals because they’re looking for a more tangible and liquid investment – one that’s not subject to the whims of day traders, financial institutions or other external factors that can add volatility to the value of paper-backed precious metals, such as a gold ETF, for example.
As for how to buy physical precious metals, you have two options: you can purchase them for physical possession or place them in a Precious Metals IRA. You can even do a combination of the two. Each option has its advantages – here’s the difference:
-
Buying precious metals for physical possession means that you get to physically store and access your precious metals, whenever and however you choose. You can keep the metals stored in your own safe at home, in a deposit box at your local bank or elsewhere – it’s completely up to you. For some investors, having this “anytime access” to their metals provides invaluable peace of mind.
-
Putting precious metals in an IRA allows you to combine the benefits of owning physical precious metals with the tax benefits of an IRA. It’s a unique retirement savings vehicle that is unlike conventional IRAs and 401(k) plans in that it allows you to add select forms of physical gold, silver, platinum and palladium (in addition to numerous other investment types, including mutual funds, mortgage-backed securities, real estate, and so on). In this case, your precious metals are stored in an approved depository or vault until you begin taking distributions from your account. You can also set up your IRA as a Roth account if it makes sense for your situation.
Whichever option you choose – physical possession, placement in an IRA, or both – actually buying your precious metals is as simple as making a phone call to Birch Gold Group. We have numerous precious metals to choose from, including several IRA-approved options, and we make the entire process simple and hassle-free. Give us a call and we’ll go over all your options to help you find the right match for your goals.
Thanks for the question, Dan!
