Thanks for emailing – we’re happy to answer your question. Placing gold into a self-directed IRA account is really simple, and the storage is taken care of by an approved depository or vault. Here’s how it all works …

1. Open a Precious Metals IRA
   The first step to investing in physical gold for retirement is opening a new Precious Metals IRA. This is a self-directed IRA account, which means you maintain control over your investment decisions, while an IRA custodian manages the assets on your behalf. Opening a Precious Metals IRA is easy – there are only a few basic forms involved, and our Precious Metal IRA Specialists will guide you through it, step by step. You also have the option of rolling over funds from other retirement accounts, such as a 401k.

2. Select your gold
   Once you’ve funded your account (with a rollover, transfer or contribution), you’ll purchase the physical gold to be placed in your Precious Metals IRA. A variety of gold coins and bars are approved, as well as other precious metals, including silver, platinum and palladium. 3. Your gold is stored in a metals depository or vault
