First produced by the Royal Canadian Mint (RCM) in November 2005, the one ounce Canadian Palladium Maple Leaf coin remains one of the very few palladium coins issued by an official government mint. Each coin contains a full troy ounce of .9995 fine palladium, and its weight and metal content are backed by the RCM.
Internationally recognized as a form of currency, the Canadian Palladium Maple Leaf makes an excellent addition to any portfolio due to its rarity. Also, some buyers find the palladium version of the coin appealing due to the fact that its price point is generally lower than its sister metal, platinum. The Canadian Palladium Maple Leaf coin is also one of the most recognized and popular palladium coins in the marketplace.
The coin’s obverse contains a recent depiction of Queen Elizabeth II and the reverse displays Canada’s national symbol, the maple leaf. The coin’s face value is $50, however, its value is based on market supply and demand for palladium.
Due to the high production standards of the Canadian Palladium Maple Leaf coin, it meets the qualification requirements to be placed into a Precious Metals IRA.
